A prospective study to analyze the outcome of surgical stabilization of fractures of lower end of radius with Ellis plate

چکیده
Introduction: The most common cause of distal radius fracture is a fall on an outstretched hand. Osteoporosis can make a relatively trivial fall result in a broken wrist. Many distal radius fractures in people older than 60 years of age are caused by a fall from a standing position Methodology: Total of 1336 bony injuries were reported to Hospital casualty and orthopedic opd during the study period. Out of which 382 are upper limb fractures. Total number of distal radius fractures are 60. After exclusion for detailed study 20 patients were selected Results: Using the Demerit score system of Gartland and Werley, we had 12 (60%) excellent results, 5 (25%) good results, 3 (15%) fair results and on poor results Conclusion: Thus open reduction and internal fixation by volar Ellis plating provides better functional results in fractures of distal end of radius. So this procedure can be used as alternative to other procedure in treating fractures of distal end radius

Economic Analysis of the Cost of Implants Used for Treatment of Distal Radius Fractures
Background: There are a number of different implant choices for surgical treatment of distal radius fractures, oftendetermined by surgeon preference or availability. Although no one volar plate demonstrates superior outcomes, thereare significant cost differences absorbed by hospitals and surgical centers. This purpose of this study is to characterizethe economic implications of implant selecti...
متن کاملOutcome of Distal Both Bone Leg Fractures Fixed by Intramedulary Nail for Fibula & MIPPO in Tibia
Background: Fractures of the distal third of the tibia are mostly associated with a fibular fracture that often requires fixation. The preferred treatment of distal tibial fracture is the minimally invasive percutaneous plate osteosynthesis (MIPPO) procedure. However, there are no clear cut guidelines on fixation of the fibular fracture and currently most orthopedic surgeons use a plate osteo...
متن کاملEvaluation of Functional Outcome of Volar Barton Distal End Radius Fractures Managed by Internal Fixation with Volar Butress Plate-a Prospective Study
Background and Objectives: The management of Volar Barton’s fractures either by operative or conservative means is a difficult problem. The present study was conducted with an objective to analyze the clinical and functional results of these fractures fixed internally using volar buttress plate.
متن کاملType II Intertrochanteric Fractures: Proximal Femoral Nailing (PFN) Versus Dynamic Hip Screw(DHS)
Background: Intertrochanteric fracture is one of the most common fractures of the hip especially in the elderly with osteoporotic bones, usually due to low-energy trauma like simple falls. Dynamic Hip Screw (DHS) is still considered the gold standard for treating intertrochanteric fractures by many. Not many studies compare the DHS with Proximal femoral nail (PFN), in Type II intertrochanteri...
متن کاملClinical Results of Percutaneous Fixation of Pelvic and Acetabular Fractures: A Minimally Invasive Internal Fixation Technique
Background: The pelvic ring fractures (PRF) and acetabular fractures (AF) are among the major orthopedic injuriesassociated with high rates of morbidity and mortality. Open surgical stabilization is the standard treatment for themajority of these complications. Percutaneous minimally invasive surgical stabilization of the fractures has become anaccepted treatment method for th...
